Bitter-sweet Home

So, I made it to Texas finally. It was quite possibly the worst trip of my entire life. If you're ever thinking of driving 15 straight hours through the middle of the night because you have no air conditioning, carrying everything you own in a two-door car with two cranky cats, don't. Just stay where you are until you die. It will be much easier. At about 3:00am while driving through Missouri (I think), I almost had myself convinced that I had fallen asleep at the wheel, died in a horrible accident and was actually in hell. I mean, it seemed as though I was eternally driving through the pitch black night, I was heart broken and it was still hot even at 3:00am. Hell must be something like that. That was probably too much information. Well, at least I'm here and I can be heart broken in peace. Sort of.

My Dearest Libby...wait a minute...will Kyle be reading this...ok ok...let me start over...Hey Libby, How are you? I am fine. I know how you feel, being away from friends and loved ones. I consider myself to be a very lucky person to have you as one of my best friends. While we fought like brother and sister, I always knew that we would be laughing (usually at my expense)together very soon. I wanted to be there for your going away party, but is some respects I am glad I'm not. I don't want the other guys to know I have a soft spot. Always remember that while you are not close to us geographically, you will always be in our hearts. You will always have a home here in Indy (although I am in Anchorage, DON'T COME HERE). I commend you on your choice of giving of yourself to others. That is a rare trait in today's world. Just think, in Kenya, you get to make up the rules in Texas Hold'em...If you practice you just might win the World Series of Poker Bracelet for the KENYAN OPEN. PEACE AND GREASE...KRISPY

Libby...
As I explained to you before, you were not in Hell. Hell is in Michigan, not Missouri. And since you're leaving, I am going to go ahead and waive the $2 you owe me for losing that bet. Consider that part of your buy-in for your first tournament.

Speaking of, I understand that Kenyans are none too fond of Texas Hold 'Em. They think it's too simple of a game. The game they prefer is CRAAAAZY Pineapple! The winner of the game traditionally takes home the grand prize, a can of Dole Pineapple slices. If none is to be found, then the prize is a big pile of dirt.

Enjoy!

Hey Libby,
It's Jen from (ex)work. I remember reading your blog when you first sent out the goodbye email, and thought I would let you know about my friend. Turns out she'll be leaving for Nairobi mid-september (18-20). I'm assuming that you will be going at the same time, and could quite possibly be in the same training program. Her name is Ellen and she's from carmel. I know you're in texas now, but it may be comforting to know of someone from a similar area before you leave. Anyways, email me if you are interested in getting ahold of her before you guys are both off to Africa. a.sinking.ship@gmail.com.
Hope things are well down south,
Jen

I miss you. I guess leaving it at that is too sad. okayy.... hey krispy, you know you can call libby "dear." we're on the libby-heather exchange program right? a-b, i think the kenyans will appreciate the game once she sees their dirt and raises them a garbage can. you guessed it, she's the secret culprit, whose motive is to use it instead of baggage so she looks like a trash-hauler instead of a rich american. libby i hear insurance companies offer kidnapper insurance, to pay off kidnappers in the event that you have no money but they think you do. that looks scary now that i type it. ttys. see ya' at nairobi airport when you get there. j/k ;)
